For people who suffer from migraines, Bradenton massage therapy can help.
Changes in weather, ubiquitous pollen, spring break traffic—people who suffer from migraines and tension headaches don’t necessarily need a trigger, but southwest Florida doesn’t help this time of year. Plenty of things can add stress this time of year.
A Bradenton mobile massage therapy session can help.
Everyone talks about how “relaxing” a massage can be, but how much do you know about how a massage actually relieves tension in the body?
Many of the massage modalities I specialize in can be applied specifically to the needs of people who suffer from migraines. Whether you’re a chronic sufferer or only get them once in a blue moon, if you’re in Bradenton, mobile massage therapy can be there for you. I’m also available in office if mobile therapy is not your preference.
Swedish Massage for Overall Relaxation
If you’re someone who suffers from a stressful lifestyle and/or overall physical and mental emotional tension, Swedish massage might be right for you. For this technique, I use gentle strokes and kneading to promote overall relief from physical and mental emotional tension.
While the movements themselves are relaxing, as with all my modalities, I’m targeting specific areas of your body during Swedish massage—points that calm the nervous system.
Deep-Tissue Massage for Chronic Sufferers
For some people, unfortunately, migraines occur on a regular basis and can seem to come out of nowhere. In these cases, the body may need a more intense “reset” in order to address underlying issues.
With deep-tissue massage, I use heightened, sustained pressure at trigger points to target deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. Tension stemming from these areas can be where migraine triggers originate, and when we’re finally able to reach them, the relief can be profound.
Myofascial Relief for Tissue Tightness
Tight muscles, especially in the neck and shoulders, can trigger an avalanche of other conditions, including tension headaches. When these muscles and joints can’t move to their full range of motion, the result is often pain as the muscle is literally fighting against its own tightness.
Myofascial relief is designed specifically to elongate tissues while breaking down the shorter fibers restricting movement. For some people, it’s amazing the relief that comes with being able to move their head more freely.
Gua Sha for Reduced Inflammation
Inflammation, especially when it’s chronic, is tied directly to chemicals in the brain that trigger migraines
Gua sha, which is an ancient form of Chinese medicine, uses a special tool to “scrape” along points of the body. Not only does this technique improve circulation, it also improves lymph function, encouraging your body to drain built-up waste products. As everything begins flowing better, the brain, too, sheds some of those chemicals that can lead to migraines.
One Size Does Not Fit All
Massage is a very personal experience. I am happy to consult with my clients, learn what your complaints are, what may be contributing and recommend the modality that will help to address your issues. Telling me your preference for pressure or modality you prefer if you have had massage to address concerns in the past.
When it comes to migraine and tension headaches, the causes can be very esoteric. We want to give you the therapy that works best for you. After all, if you’re not comfortable with a particular modality, then it will automatically be less relaxing and ultimately less effective for you.
That being said, migraines can be crippling. My Bradenton mobile massage practice can come to you, wherever you’re comfortable, and potentially offer some relief.
